I was raised in a family where the children were treated equally by my mother - encouraged to do what we wanted as long as we were safe and not hurting others, expected to share in all the housework equally, be home at the same time if we went out etc.

I started to notice that things were different outside my family when my mother re-married and we moved and I started a new primary school.

I act like myself - but I've been aware since that point that other people have perception issues about that ;-)
